Tsk tsk tsk

After a month of not posting on Tumblr and just observing the online ecosystem to gather data I’m going to archive my input.
I don’t think Tumblr is driven by individuals anymore but mob mentality. The Yahoo fiasco proved so, people overreacting and making assumptions and opinions on an industry they know little to nothing about. Do you really think a petition is going to stop a company in being bought out for over a billion dollars? Not only that but did you guys realize the petition was going through an adf.ly link so the person who started it was making a profit for themselves and they could give two shits about you and Tumblr. If you guys really wanted to make a difference you should of held a donation site not sign electronic signatures that won’t make any difference.
I would think with all this feminist bullshit bandwagon that you guys would’ve put faith in Marissa’s decision because she is a FEMALE CEO after all and it’s her biggest move yet. Not only that Yahoo didn’t completely destroy the other companies it acquired. I believe they have learned from their mistakes from YEARS ago because they were willing to pay 8 figures for a site that has been losing money hosting your ramblings and pornography. You realize it’s a catch 22 no matter what right? If Yahoo didn’t acquire it, Tumblr would’ve been forced to shut down if they didn’t receive any more funding.
It’s kind of like when a divorced parent finds a new mate and the child can be mad all they want but can’t do shit because they’re dependent on them and just going to have to conform and suck it up. Who knows after they cool down and give them a chance might actually like them. So sure there might be more ads to come and some slight changes but isn’t that a good compromise compared to not having Tumblr at all?
Another thing I don’t like is the activist vs. extremist mixup here. Let’s start with the whole Vegan conundrum. Ok I realize how you guys feel about animals being tortured to be eaten and all but does that make you superior to the rest of humanity? So superior that you wish death upon them and/or shame them for eating meat? I bet a majority of you guys weren’t raised Vegan. It’s kind of like a born again religious extremist who think they’re superior to everyone else just because of their new beliefs.
Good for you that you had the willpower to stop eating meat but everyone’s case is different. When one is raised eating meat for their entire life it’s not easy to quit cold turkey so give them time. Not only that sometimes there is an emotional reason they can’t completely quit. Like not being able to stop eating chicken pot pie because your mother who use to cook it for you every weekend since you were a child is now deceased and it’s the only thing that calms you down in times of extreme stress because it reminds you of her. Can you really blame a person in that kind of situation? I mean do you think shaming someone for something that has been implanted into our DNA because our ancestors or culture changes anything or makes you any better? Don’t start with the cavemen only ate vegetable crap because the people after them started eating meat for centuries so therefor it’s implanted.
Instead of shaming why not actually DO something besides being a keyboard warrior and raise funding from your other fellow Vegans to teach Non-vegans how to become one? Maybe because it’s much easier to type a couple of sentences to make yourselves feel validated instead of educating. I’m not generalizing all Vegans just the extremists. It’s kind of the same way war orphans and forced children soldiers are taught to conform with the rest of humanity when they were taught to just kill. Do you blame them for being raised like that? It takes time to unlearn things that has become second nature…
This is not only Vegans though, same goes for feminists here. Complete extremists that ruin it for the rest who are actually trying to push for equality but the extremist mob mentality takes over and completely ruins the experience for the true activists. All these online pissing contests on who’s right and more superior eventually bleeds into real life and makes you look like a insecure hostile fool in public. Yes I get that some of you or someone you know were mistreated by a subhuman savage but that doesn’t give you the right to mistreat others to force your beliefs. I could say the same thing about extremist atheists and religious groups and go on about other extremists in general.
But hey, who am I to give such opinions? I am no better or worse than anyone. For all you know I can be some batshit crazy patient who escaped a mental asylum and typed this from a public library. The thing is no one really knows the person behind the screen so hold your tongue per se before lashing some harsh opinions on someone because you will become a slave to the reaction and outcome.
